SFUO Elections
The Student Federation of the University of Ottawa's (SFUO) elections website recently went live. It's been eerily quiet in terms of people coming out and confirming their candidacy. The advertising of the nominations period was absolutely terrible (which isn't atypical really). No ads in the student press (which is only one of the Chief electoral officer's (CEO) responsibilities outlined in the SFUO constitution. More on that to come later (i.e. Hell has been raised). I don't know how much I really care about the upcoming SFUO elections. Sadly, the apathy has even begun to touch yours truly. I was very optimistic that Ethan Plato, Jozef Spiteri and Kate Hudson would fundamentally change the way the SFUO was perceived by students in terms of openness, transparency, and accountability of the SFUO as a whole. Those familiar with the other three members of the executive (Anne-Marie Roy, Elizabeth Kesler and Adam Gilani), they aren't particularly driven by reformist. Unfortunately, up this point, this optimism has all but dried up. Seeing I've been busy with classes and what not, I don't know exactly what will kind of election coverage will come from this blog. Come back and see. And share if you care.
